About the Show

Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) brings his signature wit and imagination to the New York premiere of ARCHDUKE.

Directed by Tony Award® winner Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder) and featuring Jake Berne, Tony nominee Kristine Nielsen, Tony nominee Patrick Page, Adrien Rolet, and Jason Sanchez, this darkly comic play follows Gavrilo Princip, better known as the assassin of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his fellow revolutionaries, reimagined not as masterminds but rather a hapless, helpless band of teenagers.

With razor-sharp humor, ARCHDUKE transforms a pivotal moment in global politics into an absurdly relevant theatrical experience, reminding us that too often history is written by the least qualified recruits.

About the Theatre

Laura Pels Theatre

111 W 46th St
New York, NY 10036

The Steinberg Center for Theatre, inaugurated in March 2004, featured Lynn Nottage’s Intimate Apparel as its debut, starring Viola Davis and directed by Dan Sullivan. Beyond the Laura Pels Theatre, the center expanded to encompass the Black Box Theatre and a new education facility. This off-Broadway venue embodies Roundabout’s dedication to original and revived works. It was made possible by The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust, established in 1986 by Harold Steinberg to support American Theatre. The Trust has granted over $70 million to 125+ theatre groups nationwide. Among the amenities, the Yegen and Donnalley Lounge caters to Chairman’s Circle members, while the Bruce Mitchell Lobby offers an open meeting space.
