About the Theatre
Majestic Theatre
245 W 44th St
New York, NY 10036
Originally constructed in 1927 by real estate moguls, the Chanin Brothers, the Majestic Theatre was a pivotal component of a tripartite theater complex that also encompassed the Royale (a medium-sized establishment) and the Theatre Masque, presently known as the John Golden (a more intimate setting). Operating as a spacious venue dedicated to musical productions, the Majestic harmonized with its counterparts, affording producers the flexibility to relocate shows based on their box-office performance and venue appropriateness. By 1930, ownership of all three theaters was transferred to the Shuberts by the Chanin Brothers.
Today, the Majestic Theatre, boasting 1,681 seats, stands as one of the illustrious 17 Broadway theaters under the aegis of the Shubert Organization.
