2026 has a lot in store for Broadway audiences! Original musicals, some based on movies, some moving from off-Broadway to Broadway – a potpourri of exciting shows with interesting pedigrees.

It’s frosty outside, but Beaches: A New Musical should warm us up! With a book based on the hit movie, Beaches, Broadway welcomes this new musical coming to us from its out-of-town run in Calgary where it received wonderful reviews, won tons of awards including Best Musical along with great audience reception. The music is by the legendary Elvis hitmaker, Mike Stoller, half the team of Smokey Joes Café who composed Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Yakety Yak, Stand By long Me and on and on! Beaches tells the story of two friends who meet as children under an Atlantic City boardwalk and become close pen pals. Their friendship is tested by various romantic relationships but eventually survives the upheavals and withstands the test of time. Beaches should warm the cockles of the hearts of audiences.
