Workshops have become increasingly popular over the years with more options to choose from, more studios and an ever growing roster of Broadway/off-Broadway and National tour professionals who’ve signed up to instruct and enlighten students. The demand indicates that students and teachers alike see the value in hands-on, inclusive training in multiple aspects of live theatre. The workshops engage the kids, get them off their phones while encouraging interaction with their peers. It’s joyous to witness one of these!
The students gain insight and inspiration in targeted aspects of theatre – from Song & Dance to Meet the Artist’s Q&A’s to Theatrical Makeup… the students receive a personal experience. Workshops are typically 90 minutes long and often held prior to the show the students will attend in a conveniently located studio.
There are other activities in the theatre district to entice: The Broadway Museum on West 44th has just opened to acclaim. You can also book a walking tour of the theatre district that focuses on the history of individual theatres and is filled with anecdotes and legends from the early days of Broadway to the present.
