What’s in Store for Broadway This Fall

The 2025-2026 Season is heating up just as the weather is cooling down! Let’s have a look at the MUSICAL LINE-UP first:

Ragtime Revival

After a critically acclaimed limited run at City Center, RAGTIME will grace the stage of Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theatre on September 26! RAGTIME is a sweeping musical adaptation of E.L. Doctorow ’s novel that follows three families in pursuit of the American dream. The story focuses on Coalhouse Walker, Jr., a Black man who buys a Model T Ford and sets off a chain of events that encompass all levels of New York City society, along with magician Harry Houdini, industrialist Henry Ford, celebrity party girl Evelyn Nesbit, civil rights leader Booker T. Washington, architect Stanford White, anarchist Emma Goldman, and an upper class white family living in suburban New Rochelle.

Back to reprise their performances from the City Center bow will be Joshua Henry (Into the Woods) as Coalhouse Walker, Jr., Caissie Levy (Frozen) as Mother, and Tony winner Brandon Uranowitz (Leopoldstadt) as Tateh.  GREAT for students middle school and up!

Two Strangers

TWO STRANGERS (Carry A Cake Across New York) is an original romantic two-person musical comedy about timing, connections and unexpected detours at the Longacre Theatre beginning November 1.  Two Strangers begin their journey together navigating the streets of New York City, secrets, and second chances.  The show’s US premiere was at Boston’s ART and the Boston Globe raved: “IRRESISTIBLE, clever, funny and delightfully surprising!

Queen of Versailles

Previews October 28 with official opening November 10. Starring Broadway legend Kristin Chenoweth and F. Murray AbrahamQUEEN OF VERSAILLES is a story of fame, fortune and its ephemeral qualities. The Boston out-of-town reviews were excellent! The New York Times raves: “Surprising and frequently excellent new musical… co-written by Wicked’s composer-lyricist, Stephen Schwartz with a book by Lindsey Ferrentino and based on the 2012 documentary of the same name, the musical tells the story of Jackie and David Siegel’s rags to riches, back to rags with an exploration of the seamy underbelly of the American dream”. Come watch Kristin Chenoweth eat caviar while the rest of us are dazzled as we eat our cake.

Chess Revival

Previews October 30, opens November 13 at the Imperial Theatre. CHESS is the first revival of this iconic musical!  It tells the story of American and Soviet conflicts at a Worldwide Chess Championship as two of the greatest chess players in the world compete and the woman between them is caught in a high stakes battle of desire and devotion.  Music is by ABBA’s legendary Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus and stars Aaron Tveit (Moulin Rouge!), Lea Michele (Funny Girl, Glee) and Nicholas Christoper (Sweeney Todd, Hamilton).  Let the games begin.

Beetlejuice

Back by popular demand but for a limited time, BEETLEJUICE arrives at the gorgeous, recently refurbished Palace Theatre. The New York Times calls it “A Jaw Dropping Funhouse!”  Based on Tim Burton’s beloved film, the hysterical musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, an unusual teenager whose life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes.  With all that mayhem, underneath it’s a touching show about family, love and making the most every Day-O!  Opens October 8 for 13 weeks only. Great student show!

Waiting for Godot

On to the Fall PLAYS:

Starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter – currently in previews, opens September 28th at the gorgeous Hudson Theatre. Celebrity actors, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are real-life friends starring as two friends searching for meaning in an absurd world where nothing happens.  But the wait is worth the wait because the buzz is lovingly loud!

Previews October 7, opening October 30. Limited run of 18 weeks only. Stars Laurie Metcalf in a new play by Samuel D. Hunter and directed by Joe Mantello (Wicked). The play centers on a razor-tongued aunt and her long-estranged nephew who find themselves suddenly back in each other’s lives with a tangled history to unravel.  Funny and explosive, it lays bare our messy, human need to reach across voids for one another, even when it shakes us to the bone.

Previews started on September 9, opening September 29. Based on a remarkable story, Punch tells the true story of Jacob Dunne, a teenager who killed someone with a single punch during a 2011 fight and then follows his path from prison to an unexpected meeting with the victim’s parents who engage in restorative justice exploring themes of violence, grief, guilt, forgiveness and redemption. At Samuel Friedman Theatre. 

ROB LAKE MAGIC WITH SPECIAL GUESTS THE MUPPETS – yes, The Muppets are coming to Broadway – with magic!  Kermit the Frog and some of his friends will be guest stars to magician Rob Lake this holiday.  Previews start October 8, opening November 6 at the Broadhurst Theatre. Limited run through January 18th.  Rob Lake made a splash on America’s Got Talent in 2018 and has toured the world since with his magic act.  He was the youngest magician in history to win the coveted Merlin Award as International Stage Magician of the Year. A GREAT HOLIDAY SHOW FOR ALL AGES!
